Damen unveils new electric dredger series

Damen Shipyards Group recently unveiled a new series of electric cutter suction dredger (CSD) which is based on one of the company’s existing conventional CSD models.

The 550-tonne vessel will have a total installed power of 3,035 kW and a maximum dredging depth of 18 metres. It will also be of modular design and capable of operating with reduced noise, making it ideal for work in densely populated and environmentally sensitive areas.

The dredger’s electric motors will also ensure reduced vibrations to guarantee greater comfort for the crew.
