Boskalis awarded harbour construction project in Spijk

Boskalis has been awarded a contract to construct a new inland harbour in Spijk on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat, the executive agency of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.

The harbour will be located on the Waal River close to the German border and will be intended for use by inland vessels.

For this project, approximately three million cubic metres of soil will be moved by means of a small cutter suction dredger and other earthmoving equipment. Work will commence early 2021 with a lead time of approximately 2.5 years.

Boskalis expects to reduce its CO2 emissions by more than 50 per cent on this project by using a sustainable biofuel.
