The Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha news agency reports that the country's government has given its approval for the procurement of 35 dredgers.
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) gave its approval for the acquisition out of the need to maintain navigability in up to 100 major rivers across the country.
The total acquisition cost is estimated to be approximately US$526 million.
