Rønne Havn port works get green light

Per Aarsleff has signed a contract to begin expansion works at the Danish commercial port of Rønne Havn on the Isle of Bornholm.

Under the terms of the MasterPlan 2050, the port will be developed in four phases over a 30-year period.

During the first phase, a new 1,100-metre breakwater, a 300-metre-long multi-purpose terminal, a 40-metre-wide heavy-duty ro-ro and a 150.000-square-metre port area will be established at the Baltic Sea port.

In addition, the water depth will be increased to 11 metres.

“In addition to being able to accommodate the very large cruise ships (up to 350 metres long), we can also offer much greater opportunity to position Bornholm as a service and installation base, in connection with the development of offshore windfarms,” said Port of Bornholm spokesperson Thomas Bendtsen.

Work is expected to start by the end of 2017.
