TNPA takes delivery of dredging survey boat

Johannesburg-based Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) recently took delivery of a new survey craft to provide support for dredging works that will be carried out at South African ports under the agency’s jurisdiction.

Named SS Sonar, the R1.5 million (US$100,000) vessel was built by Dams Maintenance and Industrial Supplies of Durban.

The newbuild will replace the survey boat Swift, which has been operating with TNPA for 32 years and is nearing the end of its service life.
