Keppel lays keel for Jan De Nul dredger

On July 19, the keel laying of a 6,000-cubic-metre vessel took place at Keppel Singmarine for the Jan De Nul Group.

The trailing suction hopper dredgers and it’s also ordered sister ship, will be named after two of Jan De Nul’s decommissioned vessels: Sanderus and Ortelius.

Jan De Nul ordered six trailing suction hopper dredger from Keppel Singmarine earlier this year, including three small 3,500m³ vessels, two medium-sized 6,000m³ dredgers and a larger vessel at 18,000m³.

All six vessels will be diesel-electrical powered, with engines allowing optimal use of generated power but with low fuel consumption and emissions.

In addition, the vessels are equipped with a two stage highly efficient exhaust gas filter system, resulting in emissions complying with the European Stage V regulations for inland waterway vessels.

One of the 3,500m³ vessels was launched earlier in July.
