Macduff Shipyards has handed over the 'Julie Anne' to Scottish Sea Farms.
This vessel is destined for Scottish Sea Farms' newly reopened site at Fiunary in the Sound of Mull.
The design is based on a previous vessel 'Emma', designed by Macduff Ship Design and built by Macduff Shipyards. The order encompasses four feed barges and two landing craft.
Manned by a crew of two to four, there is no room for sleeping but there is a galley and mess area in the wheelhouse to provide comfort to workers during the day.
Constructed of steel, the vessel is 14.95 metres long, 5.6 metres wide, has a draught of 1.12 metres and a depth of 2.1 metres. Although compact, the 'Julie Anne' is able to carry up to 20 tonnes of deck cargo, which increases her versatility for the owner. To assist in loading on cargo and also attending to the fish farms, Macduff opted for a three-tone deck crane from Palfinger to be installed.
