From Baird Maritime:

While best known for his paintings, Mona Lisa among them, Leonardo Da Vinci was also renowned for his carefully drawn inventions. Many of those were way ahead of his time.

Among his flying machines, machine guns, armoured car and barrage cannon, were a number of nautical craft, machines and instruments. This delightfully illustrated book depicts a number of them.

Leonardo drew designs for a paddle boat, a twin-hulled dredger, a canal excavator, compasses and dividers. All these ideas were produced in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries.

Many of his ideas, or derivations of them, have since come to fruition. He was truly ahead of his time.
