Damen Shipyards has partnered with JAPDEVA, an autonomous government body that manages the ports in Puerto Limon on the Atlantic side of Costa Rica, for the construction and delivery of a Damen Stan Tender 1504-series pilot vessel.

The culmination of a tender process which began in 2013, the order was approved by the Controller General of Costa Rica and will see JAPDEVA expand its fleet of Damen-designed and -built vessels to five ships, the other vessels comprising a pilot vessel and three Stan-series tugs.

The vessel will be named "Doña Laura", after the Costa Rican president Mrs. Laura Chinchilla. The vessel will be used throughout the port areas of Puerto Limon and Moin in pilot transfer operations.

The built-to-stock vessel will arrive in Costa Rica in May.
