From Baird Maritime:

While Australia has a very long coastline, it still comes as something of a surprise to pick up this enormous book and discover that it covers 15,644 entries. They describe both wrecks and other notable incidents but the vast majority are wrecks.

The author gives extensive and well deserved credit to his late colleague and friend Jack Loney. Loney was a shipwreck fanatic who diligently recorded his many decades of research in a long series of books and monographs. They are important references behind this encyclopedia.

The bibliography and references are unbelievably extensive and will be of immeasurable value to maritime historians who follow Peter Stone and Jack Loney.

It is difficult to imagine a more comprehensive record. Anything that follows will merely be built on this immensely sturdy foundation. An incredibly valuable obsession.
