The recently delivered 'Jai Alai' is the second of a new tuna purse seiner series that Zamakona Yards is building for Echebastar with a design from Cintranaval-Defcar.
This innovative vessel is the 34th that the shipyard has built under Cintranaval-Defcar's designs. With experience designing more than 90 super tuna purse seiners, Cintranaval-Defcar used their experience to provide the 'Jai Alai' with an innovative design best fulfilling the shipowner´s requirements.
The vessel is 89.28 metres long, 14.35 metres wide, has a draught of 6.80 metres and a total depth of 6.85 metres. It is powered by a 4,500kW-engine rated at 750rpm, which turn 4,500mm propellers. This power train allows the 'Jai Alai' to operate at 18 knots while fishing.
The hull lines were carefully designed for the vessel to obtain high speeds while maintaining excellent sea-keeping abilities.
First class systems are installed for the fishing and deck equipment, both with regard to cranes as well as the fishing winch. All deck equipment has been developed by Tecnicas Hidraulicas.
The vessel's fish well capacity is greater than 1,900m3, having four freezing tanks and two deep-freezing tunnels for fish at -60ºC. The ship is also designed to return non-target fish to the sea with minimal damage.
