By Basil Lubbock
From Baird Maritime:
Captain William Henry (Bully) Hayes was an American born seaman who operated around the south and western Pacific from about 1840 to 1877.
Uneducated and low-born, he was over-endowed with cunning, guile and ruthlessness. He was also big and strong and lived up to his nickname. He received his just rewards at the age of about 50 when he was murdered in Samoa by his cook.
A man of many talents, Hayes was a thug, a confidence man, a pirate, a slaver, a wrecker, a bigamist, philanderer and, above all, a thief. Apart from a good singing voice, he had few redeeming features.
Nevertheless, he had many scrapes, scams and adventures that are brilliantly described in this classic tale of the South Seas.
This book is one of a set of 15 by the same author that is being marketed by the publisher at a very special price.
