French workboat builder Bord à Bord, located in the Côtes d'Armor, is taking over the production of compatriot designer/builder Naviwatt's electric vessels. Naviwatt will focus on vessel design moving forward.

After a six-year collaboration with Naviwatt, Bord à Bord will resume the marketing and manufacturing of the company's various series of electric boats, for port, passenger transport and surveillance applications.

"Bord à Bord reaffirms its commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions," said the company in a statement.

"This takeover marks a clear desire to intensify the presence of electrically powered vessels on the market, while promoting the expertise developed by the Morbihan-based company Naviwatt."

"Bord à Bord has until now been working hand in hand with its counterpart Naviwatt to provide them with their 100 per cent Breton professional boats, delivered all over the world."

Naviwatt has reportedly chosen to refocus on its core competencies: the design office and naval architecture, as well as supporting its customers in the integration of decarbonised engine solutions, particularly electric propulsion.
