From Baird Maritime:

Britain went somewhat mad in 2005 as it marked the bi-centenary of Nelson's victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

Among the madness was an international conference of historians and naval officers which was held at Portsmouth and attracted participants from all over the world. This most interesting little book is a valuable result of that conference.

A disparate but interesting group of mainly academic historians presented papers at the conference. These have been reproduced here as essays that are remarkably readable.

The participants were obviously encouraged to take a thought-provoking lateral-thinking approach to this important historic event. This has produced some most interesting results and even some new research.

A most exciting way to study some rather well ploughed history.
