New coastal patrol boat for east Australia

MARITIME SECURITY WEEK

Australia: A recent addition to the NSW Roads and Maritime Service fleet is a 7.5-metre patrol boat built by Yamba Welding and Engineering.

The new boat, designed by New Zealand’s Naiad Design, can be trailered with all equipment at under 3,500 kilograms all-up weight on a trailer.

It features a fully-enclosed cabin, with double doors giving wide access to the cockpit. Suspension seats keep the crew safe and comfortable, with the forward cabin providing storage for operational equipment.

Naiad reported safe, predictable handling and the ability to handle rough conditions with ease on trials. Smaller than its big brothers, it still offers high performance running to 40+ knots fitted with twin Suzuki 200 outboards.

Like all recent deliveries to RMS, the boat has a complete suite of Raymarine electronics for fleet compatibility.
