European investor Omnes Capital has joined the ownership group of Norway’s Maritime Robotics through a funding round aimed at expanding production of autonomous maritime systems.
The Trondheim-based company said in its September 28 announcement that the capital would speed international commercialisation and support a larger rollout of its systems for civil and defence customers. It said demand was growing globally. The size of Omnes’ investment was not disclosed.
Participants included growth partner Mustard Seed + Partners (MS+Partners), EnvisionTech, Nysnø Climate Investment and Umoe. The company’s founders and employees also took part, alongside early supporters.
“Autonomous systems are now moving from pilot projects to becoming an integrated part of operational activity in both commercial markets and the defence sector,” said Vegard Evjen Hovstein, co-founder and CEO of Maritime Robotics.
Maritime Robotics described Omnes Capital as a European private equity and infrastructure investor with €6.7 billion ($7.62 billion) in assets under management.
MS+Partners led the €28 million growth investment announced in June 2026.
The company previously raised $12 million in September 2024 in a round co-led by NRP Zero and Nysnø Climate Investment, with participation from Umoe and Holta Invest.
Maritime Robotics said at the time that the proceeds would support its international expansion.
Maritime Robotics recorded operating revenue of NOK258.8 million in 2025, up 72 per cent from NOK150.8 million in 2024. Operating profit fell to NOK2.3 million from NOK5.3 million.
Founded in 2005, Maritime Robotics develops vessels capable of autonomous operation, as well as navigation systems.
The company said it had delivered hundreds of systems for work in offshore energy, mapping and surveying, environmental monitoring, and maritime security.
Among its civil-sector deliveries is Argus, a survey and inspection uncrewed surface vessel designed and built by Maritime Robotics for now-defunct Norwegian subsea survey company Argeo. The vessel’s work includes ocean mapping and offshore projects.
