
Israel's Zim Integrated Shipping Services has received the first consignment of its twelve-vessel order with the arrival of 'Zim Los Angeles'.
The 8,400TEU vessel is the first mega container vessel owned by the company and will be followed by the delivery of 'Zim Djibouti' in two weeks' time. This 10,000TEU containership will subsequently become Zim's largest vessel, twice the size of Zim's current flag ship.
The 108,574DWT 'Zim Los Angeles' has a total refrigerated container capacity of 700FEU and a speed of 25.6 knots.
'Zim Djibouti' is a 116,400DWT vessel with 600FEU on deck and 200FEU in holds. The vessel has a speed of 25.8 knots.
Both vessels were built by Hyundai Samho Shipyards in South Korea.
'Zim Los Angeles' and 'Zim Djibouti' will serve in partnership with the Grand Alliance serving the Pacific Northwest Service (PNX) loop from east Asia to west coast US and Canada.
