South Korean builder Samsung Heavy Industry's Geoje Shipyard has recently delivered an advanced Q-MAX LNG carrier to Nakilat of Qatar.
The vessel is now chartered on long term contract to the Qatargas Operating Company.
The Nakilat-owned Q-Max 266,000-cubic metre LNG Carrier 'Zarga' will be used to ship LNG produced by Qatar Liquefied Gas Company (4), known as Qatargas 4, to markets primarily in the North America, China, and Dubai.
The Q-Max has 80 percent more capacity than conventional LNG carriers with about 40 percent lower energy requirements due to the economies of scale created by their size and the efficiency of their engines.
Q-Max LNG carriers are unique and were purpose-built for Nakilat.
