Sale of 55,345-barrel ocean tank barge

USA: NuStar Energy of Texas has sold their US-flagged, 55,345-barrel, ocean tank barge 'Statia Supplier' to Moby Marine.

Built in 1969 at Wyatt Industries, the tank barge measures 94 metres by 19.5 metres by 5.8 metres. 'Statia Supplier' has two segregations and zinc coated tanks.

She was employed in clean petroleum service primarily in the southern

US and Caribbean waters.

The 6,590DWT barge was rebuilt in 1986 and carries a current US Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection for Grade "A" and lower products through July 2010.

The barge is classed ABS +A1 Oil Tank Barge, Unrestricted Service and has an International Load Line.

With a notched stern, smooth chines on near symmetrical fore and aft rakes, the barge has proven over the years to be a fast towing barge.

'Statia Supplier' was located in the Caribbean at the time of the sale. Moby Marine is scheduled to tow the barge, using their own tug, to a South American shipyard for conversion to alternative service.

Marcon International was the sole broker in the sale.
