MSC’s new containership christened at Le Havre

The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has christened its newest containership ‘MSC Sveva’, at Haropa’s Le Havre Port in France.

‘Sveva’ is the latest addition to the Oscar-class of containerships. Released in October 2015 by Korean shipybuilder Daewoo, it measures 395 metres by 59 metres, has a draught of 16 metres and a capacity of 19,224TEU.

‘Sveva’ is LNG ready and is specially equipped with a new generation engine, the G95, with low fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions.

The vessel’s reduced emissions output puts it ahead of the 2025 compliance regulations for cargo vessel newbuilds.
