India: the Director General of shipping has found that the 'Khalijia' was mainly responsible an accident in Mumbai port, in which 'MSC Chitra' lost 300 containers blocking the harbour and spilt 800 tonnes of oil.
The 'Khalijia' was found to have entered the port at the wrong time and wrong angle, and had only contacted the captain of 'MSC Chitra' two minutes before the accident.
The inquiry was also critical of the Mumbai Port trust's Vehicle Traffic Monitoring System (VTMS). Only one of the two radars were working and staff were not monitoring the screen.
