Earlier this year the Alnmaritec Wave Handler-class boat, 'Wave Force', commenced line handling duties at a bulk carrier terminal near Dampier in Western Australia. This is the second line handling vessel that Alnmaritec has supplied to this region, the first boat having successfully operated for over a year now on an iron ore terminal at Point Lambert.
'Wave Force' is the first of the new larger Wave Handler-class from Alnmaritec. At just over 12 metres, she is two metres longer than the previous Wave Handler boats and features 750kW of installed power.
She is fitted with twin Trakor Jets from North American Marine Jets, designed specifically to give her an exceptionally high bollard pull (nearly five tonnes) for line handling work as well as a handy turn of speed (25 knots) while retaining all the advantages of a water jet propulsion package on the boat.
On the large aft working deck, she has a two-tonne hydraulic capstan and a five-tonne tow post with quick release hook, and she has a bow landing platform for personnel transfer. She has a spacious, air-conditioned wheelhouse with seating for up to six passengers and two crew as well as a WC and she is fitted with a water drench deluge system for rescue work.
