Seacontractors has expanded its work boat fleet with orders for three new vessels from Damen.

The order comprises a Damen Shoalbuster 3209, the company's ninth vessel of the type, as well as two Stan Tug STu 3011-series tug designs.

Following extensive customisations to the STu tugs, Seacontractors will be the launch customer for Damen's new 70-tonne bollard pull variant of the STu 3011 design variant.

The customisations will increase the design's multi-functionality, allowing the vessel to perform operations such as anchor handling and fire fighting.

Seacontractors said it was drawn to the new STu 3011 series due to its compact dimensions, extra space on deck, and customisability. Damen will change the layout of the aft deck, lengthening the aft section by a metre and creating an open stern with stern roller.

Following delivery and commissioning, the company will deploy the two new vessels in anchor handling and terminal support works.

Customisation for the vessels, which will be named 'Atlantis' and 'Dian Kingdom', respectively, will be carried out at Damen's Song Cam yard in Vietnam. The vessels will be delivered in mid 2015.

Seacontractors' new Damen Shoalbuster vessels, meanwhile, will be named 'Sea India' and will be equipped with FiFi1 fire fighting. The vessel will be customised from stock at Damen Shipyards Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
