Emar Offshore orders ASD tug for support of West Africa operations
Netherlands-based offshore vessel operator Emar Offshore Services has placed an order for a new ASD escort tug that will support its activities across West Africa.
The tug, which will be named E-Ten, will have a length of 28 metres, a beam of 13 metres, a draught of six metres, and space for up to 10 crewmembers. The wheelhouse will be designed to provide the crew with improved visibility from the helm station.
Power will be provided by two Caterpillar 3516C engines that each produce 2,525 kW at 1,800 rpm. The engines will drive two 3,000mm fixed-pitch propellers housed in Kongsberg Maritime US 255 azimuthing thrusters to deliver a speed of just under 13 knots and a bollard pull of 83 tonnes.
The tug will be built in compliance with Bureau Veritas class rules including those that cover unrestricted service. The air-conditioned crew spaces will comply with MLC 2006 requirements and will include two officer's cabins, four double cabins, a galley, and a mess/day room.
