Eastern Shipbuilding launches first tug in series for E.N. Bisso and Son

Eastern Shipbuilding Group has launched the first of two ship-handling tugs in a series ordered by New Orleans-based E.N. Bisso and Son for its Bisso Offshore division.

The Robert Allan Ltd-designed tug has been christened C.D. White after one of E.N. Bisso's former owners, Cornelius Dee "Jack" White, Jr.

The vessel has a length of 80 feet (24.3 metres), a beam of 38 feet (11.5 metres), and two Caterpillar 3512E IMO Tier III-compliant diesel engines that will deliver a bollard pull of 63 tonnes.

C.D. White is scheduled for delivery in December of this year. A. Thomas Higgins, the second and final tug in the series, is currently under construction at Eastern Shipbuilding's facility in Panama City, Florida.
