New escort tug delivered to Italy's Ocean SRL
A new ASD tug was recently handed over to Ocean SRL, a marine services provider operating out of Trieste in Italy.
Named Tiger, the tug was built to a design by Canadian naval architecture firm Robert Allan Ltd (RAL). It has an LOA of 32 metres, a beam of 13.2 metres, and a depth of 5.5 metres.
The tug is equipped with advanced systems for ship rescue, vessel escorting, firefighting, port operations, towing, pushing, and standby services.
Two Caterpillar 3516E main engines each rated 2,350 kW drive Kongsberg US255 Z-drives housing 2,800mm fixed-pitch propellers to deliver a bollard pull of 80 tonnes. Fuel oil and freshwater capacities are 199 cubic metres and 40 cubic metres, respectively.
The propulsion machinery also features exhaust aftertreatment systems to ensure compliance with IMO Tier III NOx emissions regulations.
The deck equipment meanwhile includes an Ibercisa split drum escort forward winch, an aft towing winch, and a Data Hidrolik tow pin to support vessel escorting and towing operations.
