Italian naval architects Marine Engineering Services (MES) has completed a three-year research project with the objective of designing a new series of escort tugs that will be powered by LNG.
Each tug in the series will measure 36 by 14 metres and will be capable of generating a bollard pull of 60 tonnes.
MES worked on the design project in cooperation with local engineering company Engys and the University of Trieste.
