The Fairplay Towage Group has placed orders for four harbour tugs and two offshore tugs.
The newbuilds have been ordered by Fairplay Germany and Fairplay Polska and will be constructed to designs by Canadian naval architecture firm Robert Allan Ltd (RAL).
Fairplay said the programme forms part of its fleet modernisation and expansion.
Delivery of the first harbour tug is planned for the middle of 2027, with the other three expected by the end of that year. The two offshore tugs are due to enter service during the first half of 2028.
The four harbour tugs will use a RAL 24-metre design, with each producing at least 6,390 hp (4,770 kW) and delivering a minimum bollard pull of 80 tonnes. They are intended for deployment in European ports between Poland and Belgium.
The offshore vessels comprise one 32-metre tug with a bollard pull of 90 tonnes and one 42-metre tug with a bollard pull of 125 tonnes. The most powerful vessel in the six-tug programme will have an output of 10,580 hp (7,890 kW).
Fairplay intends to deploy the offshore tugs in the North Sea and on projects in Africa and South America.
All six newbuilds will meet IMO Tier III emission standards. They will also carry ice-class ratings and equipment to assist LNG carriers, including in winter conditions.
The two offshore designs also featured in an agreement announced by Fairplay in May 2026 for one tug of each type, with options for one additional set of the same designs.
