Rimorchiatori Riuniti group's new venture, Rimorchiatori Augusta, has signed a contract for its first newbuild, a Damen ASD 2810 tug.

Rimorchiatori Augusta's new tug will be used for operations in the Sicilian port of Augusta.

Rimorchiatori Augusta was formed following the purchase by Rimorchiatori Riuniti of Augustea Imprese Marittime and Salvataggi, together with its fleet of 16 vessels.

The company provides towage services in Augusta, Siracusa Santa Panagia, Catania and Pozzallo.

The 2810 has 60 tonnes of bollard pull and measures 28.67 metres long and has a beam of 10.43 metres. It will be fitted with FiFi 1 fire-fighting equipment and have the necessary modifications required to meet Italian flag standards.

The vessel is in build at Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam and will be handed over to Rimorchiatori Augusta in Italy at the end of this year.
