First Havyard AHTS built in India delivered

The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has taken delivery of the anchor-handling tug/supply (AHTS) vessel 'SCI-Panna'.

The vessel is the first of its kind to be constructed in India from a design by Norway's Havyard Group. Built at Bharati Shipyard, 'SCI-Panna' is based on the Havyard 841 design, developed in 2007 with SCI in mind. SCI has a contract for a further three AHTSs of the same design, which are currently under construction for delivery by March of next year.

'SCI-Panna' is 64.8 metres in length with a gross tonnage of 2,040 tonnes and deadweight of 2,001 tonnes. The vessel has a bollard pull of 80 tonnes and deck capacity of 400 square metres. Below deck there is accommodation for a crew of 31.

SCI has a diversified fleet of 81 vessels which includes 11 offshore supply

vessels. The company has 29 vessels on order at present, ten of which are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2011.
