The ocean-going tug 'Fairplay 32' was named on November 15 at Daewoo Shipbuilding in Mangalia, Romania, prior to delivery to her owner, Hamburg-based Fairplay Towage.
Sailing under the flag of Antigua & Barbuda, 'Fairplay 32' will be employed in international trades, offshore services and for long distance tows. Her first job will commence in early December when she will pick-up an OSV-hull in the Romanian port of Tulcea for Aalesund in Norway. After completion of this job, she will perfom a bollard pull test in Stavanger.
Two MAN STX 6L32/40 engines, each rated 3,000kW, drive controllable pitch propellers with a diameter of each 3.20 metres in a Kort-Nozzle to produce an expected bollard pull of more than 100 tonnes. Electrical power on board comes from two shaft generators with an output of each 640kVa, two 390kW Cummins KTA19DM1GA auxiliary engines, and a Cummins 6BT5.9DMGE 90kW generator.
Up to 20 persons can be accommodated onboard, mainly in single berth cabins. The tug is fully air-conditioned.
