Turkish shipbuilder Bogazici Shipping has delivered a new harbour escort tug, the 'Waterchief' (ex-'Bogazici-7'). The vessel, built for Kristiansund Taubaat Service, is on its way to Kristiansund, Norway.
'Waterchief' is 32.50 metres long, 11.70 metres wide and has a depth 5.60 metres with an average draft of 4.30 metres, and weighs in at 463 tonnes.
The vessel's designs are derived from the existing '65+ Bogazici Escort Series' that has been exclusively designed by Cintranaval-Defcar for Bogazici Shipping. This new harbour version has two storage decks, oil recovery capability, closed box type bulwarks, clean ship class notation, cargo rails, container feet, additional navigation and communication equipments, as well as redesigned accommodation places.
The all-welded steel construction vessel is certified by Bureau Veritas.
The tug is powered with a pair of NRF box-cooled Caterpillar 3516B high displacement engines, each of them delivering 2,100kW at 1,600rpm to a pair of Schottel rudder propellers. This combination gives the tug a bollard pull of over 65 tonnes ahead, over 60 tonnes astern and a free running speed of 13.5 knots.
