Bisso Towboat has announced the delivery of a new ship-assist tug, the 3,350kW ASD tractor tug 'Becky S'.

Constructed at Main Iron Works, the tug is powered by twin Caterpillar 3515T3MPL main engines, generating 1,670kW each at 1,600rpm, which drive two Rolls-Royce Z-drives. The Z-drives feature pitch stainless steel propellers set in stainless steel nozzles and the estimated bollard pull is 60 tonnes.

Electrical service is provided by two 99kW Marathon generators powered by two John Deere engines and the tug is equipped with a Jonrie Series 230 hydraulic bow winch carrying a Saturn 12 line.

Other features include USCG-approved engine room monitoring and fire/smoke alarm system, Simrad electronics, soundproof insultation throughout the engine room and crew quarters, stainless steel bitts and bow staple and four bunk rooms with seven berths.

Tankage includes capacities for 113,000 litres of diesel fuel and 40,000 litres of potable water.

The 'Becky S' will have a crew complement of four and carries an ABS International Loadline.

The tug is the fifth ASD tractor tug built for Bisso by Main Iron Works and brings the total number of Bisso's tugs to twelve.
