Holland Shipyards Group has handed over a new hybrid ferry to Schlepp- und Fährgesellschaft Kiel (SFK) in Germany.

Named Gaarden, the vessel will be operated within the waters of the Kieler Fjord.

The newbuild has a length of 32.4 metres, a beam of 8.8 metres, and a hybrid drivetrain that can be powered by either generators or a battery bank. The battery system, which is expected to produce zero emissions, will be used for sailing within the Kiel city centre.

Gaarden also has onboard space for bicycles.
