Kochi Metro Rail (KMRL) has shortlisted two local and two foreign-owned companies for a project to design, build, and deliver a fleet of modern ferries for use in India’s Greater Kochi region.

Cochin Shipyard, L&T, Damen Shipyards Group, and UAE-based Grandweld Shipyards are now the only remaining bidders for the tender. All four firms are required to submit their respective bids to KMRL by February 26.

Under the terms of the contract, the winning shipyard will provide KMRL with 23 100-pax ferries by December of this year and deliver 55 additional 50-pax vessels by the end of 2020.
