Admiralty Shipyard launches Project 636.3 submarine Volkhov

United Shipbuilding Corporation’s (USC) Admiralty Shipyard has launched Volkhov, a new diesel-electric submarine under Project 636.3.

The submarine is named after the city of Volkhov in Leningrad Oblast. Commissioning is scheduled for November 2020.

As with sister submarine Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Volkhov will be assigned to the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet.
