VESSEL REVIEW | Oriy – Croatian builder unveils 50-metre Mediterranean charter yacht
Croatian shipbuilder Radež has completed a new 49.98-metre (164-foot) motor yacht that has since entered the charter market under the name Oriy.
The vessel was built at the yard's Bristva Bay facility for Solsticij, a company based in Dugi Rat, near Split. Radež said construction was carried out under the supervision of the Croatian Register of Shipping.
Radež described the vessel as a charter yacht and gave her navigation area as within 60 nautical miles of the coast. She can accommodate up to 12 guests in six cabins while she will be crewed by 13 personnel.
Oriy has a beam of 8.95 metres (29.4 feet), a draught of only 2.45 metres (8.04 feet), and a gross tonnage of 499.
Built for extended-range trips
The yacht features a full-displacement steel hull topped by an aluminium superstructure, the latter saving topside weight on a hull carrying guest accommodation on the main and lower decks.
Propulsion is provided by two Caterpillar C32 diesel engines, each rated at 970 kW (1,300 hp). The yacht has a cruising speed of 12 knots and a maximum speed of 16 knots, while her range is 4,500 nautical miles at an economical speed of 10 knots.
A bow thruster is fitted to assist in berthing manoeuvres, which Radež noted would be useful given the yacht's intended charter operations in harbours and marinas. The vessel is also equipped with stabilisers that are effective while underway and at anchor.
The exterior decks are laid with iroko. Other onboard systems include a watermaker, air conditioning throughout the guest and crew spaces, and Starlink satellite internet connectivity.
Full range of amenities including tenders and watersports gear
Croatian studio Nauta is credited with the yacht's exterior design. Naval architecture was handled by Ivana Peko of Naval Design Solutions, working with captain and project developer Ante Ercegović.
The guest quarters comprise a main deck master suite and a lower deck master cabin, along with four additional cabins, two of which are convertible. The main deck suite has its own office and balcony while the lower deck master cabin spans the full beam and has a walk-in wardrobe.
The main saloon and an upper deck sky lounge provide the principal interior social spaces. A gym and a sauna are also available.
The main deck aft leads down to a stern swimming platform and beach club incorporating a pool measuring 4.2 by 2.2 metres (14 by 7.2 feet). The upper deck has an outdoor dining area seating 12, while the sun deck carries a whirlpool, sunbeds, a barbecue and a separate sunbathing area at the bow.
The yacht carries two Brig tenders. One is an eight-metre (26-foot) unit powered by twin 250hp (190kW) Yamaha outboards and the other is a five-metre (16-foot) unit with a single 150hp (110kW) Yamaha outboard. A chase boat is also listed among the yacht's equipment.
The water sports inventory includes two personal watercraft, three Seabob underwater scooters, an e-foil, two stand-up paddleboards, two double kayaks, adult and children's waterskis, a slide, and inflatable play equipment.
Oriy is being marketed for summer charters in the Mediterranean. Winter charters in the Caribbean are also being offered.
