VESSEL REVIEW | Queen Yaz – Family-only custom yacht for Turkish owner

A steel displacement hull, aluminium superstructure and twin diesel engines form the technical platform of the Turkish-built yacht, which has a published maximum speed of 17 knots and extensive outdoor spaces.

Turkey’s Dearsan Shipyard delivered the motor yacht Queen Yaz in August 2026 following construction at its yard in Tuzla, Istanbul. The vessel combines a steel displacement hull and aluminium superstructure with an arrangement developed for private family use.

Queen Yaz was built specifically for Dearsan Shipyard’s owner Aziz Yıldırım and named after his daughter, Yaz. The owner’s requirements centred on family life aboard, with outdoor lounges and private areas forming a substantial part of the arrangement.

Red Yacht Design (RYD) created the yacht’s exterior and interior. Istanbul-based Milimetriq was responsible for its naval architecture and engineering while More Marine managed the project.

The RINA-classed Queen Yaz has a length of 49.78 metres (163.3 feet), a beam of 8.96 metres (29.4 feet), and a draught of 2.45 metres (8.04 feet). The displacement is 467 tonnes while the gross tonnage is 499.

The yacht is powered by two Caterpillar C32 diesel engines each rated 1,210 kW (1,620 hp) driving propellers to deliver a maximum speed of 17 knots.

RYD said the exterior is shaped by sculpted forms, dark tones and extensive open decks, the profile having been controlled in relation to the vessel’s length and volume. The emphasis on outdoor areas carries through to the arrangement, with lounges forward and aft as well as a separately equipped sun deck.

The sundeck brings together a whirlpool, sunbeds, areas for sitting, a bar and a dining area. These facilities bring bathing, relaxation and dining together on the upper outdoor deck, while the forward and aft lounges provide additional places for family members and guests to gather.

The stern has an open social area at water level. Fold-down bulwarks expand the available seating area, making the stern arrangement one of the yacht’s more distinctive functional features.

Maximised use of onboard space to allow for full amenities range

The forward lounge adds another outdoor gathering area at the opposite end of the yacht. Together with the aft lounge and sun deck, it distributes the principal open air spaces across the vessel rather than concentrating them in a single location.

RYD said the windows bring daylight into the principal living areas, connecting the enclosed accommodation with the surrounding outdoor spaces.

Guest accommodation is meanwhile provided for 10 people in five cabins.

RYD added that the yacht’s social and private spaces were planned alongside her outdoor decks, with family use of the yacht in mind.
