GEAR | Hydrogen, other alternative fuels among highlights in recently concluded 11th International LNG Congress
The 11th International LNG Congress (LNGCON) 2025 convened industry experts to drive advancements in using alternative green fuels such as bio-LNG, ammonia and hydrogen as the energy source.
The companies met in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from March 10 to 12.
Participants were engaged in a two-day business programme, featuring dynamic sessions, debates, roundtables, panel discussions, B2B meetings and a Gala Dinner. The limited number of delegates also had an exclusive visit to the Nordsol Bio-LNG Facility, the Regional Partner of LNGCON 2025.
The congress brought together professionals and executives from companies such as Wood, Engie, BP, TotalEnergies, ELINOIL, BOTAŞ, Nordsol, Port of Amsterdam, Elengy, and Deutsche Energy Terminal. This year, LNGCON was supported by Shell as the host sponsor.
The congress also had Anthony Veder, Titan Clean Fuels as the Regional Partners. Participating at the congress for the sixth time, Iveco showed its support as the Green Sponsor.
The first day featured speakers’ presentations on the role of gas in the green energy transition, hydrogen infrastructure development and up-to-date technologies, bio-LNG and synthetic LNG and their decarbonisation potential and many others.
The agenda of the day was concluded with the annual Gala Dinner, held in Great Church Alkmaar. Delegates continued networking in a relaxed atmosphere, complemented by the traditional BGS Lottery.
The second day of the congress started with the debates on the shifting landscape of energy with alternative fuels. Speakers from BB Energy, Elengy and Scania led the discussion.
The topics of the speakers’ presentations were dedicated to alternative energy choices to NZE, biomethane as a key for decarbonisation of heavy-duty transport and the shipping of fuels.
Throughout the final day, delegates had a chance to gain valuable insights on digitalisation and IoT in LNG operations, energy transition from LNG to H2 and global regulatory trends in the industry.
LNGCON 2025 was concluded with the closing panel about commercial strategies and predictions for the industry's future.
One of the highlights of LNGCON 2025 was the Hydrogen and Alternative Fuels Innovation Zone, a dedicated exhibition space where companies showcased their technologies. The list of exhibitors included UESTCO Energy Systems, NEUMAN and ESSER Deutschland, Emerson, Cryovat, and OPW-CES.
In 2025, LNGCON extended its agenda to the third day with a guided tour across the Nordsol Bio-LNG Facility. Léon van Bossum, CEO of Nordsol, welcomed the delegates to give an overview of the programme and safety rules at the production plant.
The 12th International LNG Congress will be held in a new location: Barcelona, Spain. LNGCON 2026 will be held from March 9 to 10, 2026, and registration is already open.
