The World Shipping Council (WSC) has approved the continuation of Ron Widdows as chairman through to September 2012.
At a membership meeting in Seoul, the WSC elected Wan Min, managing director of COSCO Container Lines, and Dr Ottmar Gast, chairman of Hamburg Süd to two-year terms on its board of directors. Philip Chow of Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), Morten Englestoft of Maersk Line, and Ulrich Kranich of Hapag-Lloyd were re-elected to the board.
Widdows is scheduled to step down from his current role as group president and CEO of NOL Group later this year.
