Xiangtong Shipping's newest chemical tanker floated out
The Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, launched a new stainless steel chemical tanker in a ceremony on Friday, May 16.
XT Sea Lion will be the first ship in a series of six chemical tankers to be built by Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry for local shipowner Xiangtong Shipping.
Upon completion, the tanker will have a length of 158.98 metres, a beam of 27 metres, a depth of 14.2 metres, and a deadweight of 29,500. One MAN 5S50ME-C9.7-EcoEGR main engine will propel the ship to speeds of up to 14 knots in addition to satisfying EEDI Phase III requirements.
A selective catalytic reduction system will be fitted to ensure compliance with IMO Tier III NOx emissions regulations. The engine can meanwhile be configured to permit operation on methanol fuel in the future.
XT Sea Lion is being built in compliance with the American Bureau of Shipping's ENVIRO, Methanol Fuel Ready Level 1C, and EEDI-PH3 notations.
