Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) have provisionally chartered four supertankers this week to load oil at Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates bound for Asia, according to trade sources and shipping data.
ADNOC chartered three very large crude carriers to load oil this week while KPC has fixed at least one VLCC which will load in early September with the option to head east or west, data from commodities analytics firm Kpler and a shipbroker showed.
Each VLCC is capable of carrying two million barrels of oil.
ADNOC and KPC did not respond to Reuters requests for immediate comment.
The trade sources said the leased supertankers were expected to handle cargoes originating from inside the Persian Gulf.
Tehran on Sunday announced a blacklist of 45 ships it accused of breaking its rules in crossing the Strait of Hormuz.
Several oil companies plan to stop using ships on Iran's list, including for ship-to-ship transfers, due to security concerns.
