UK's PG Tankers welcomes new product carrier to fleet
UK shipping company Pritchard-Gordon Tankers (PG Tankers) has taken delivery of a new oil product/chemical tanker built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard Dingheng.
The 10,660DWT Lettie PG is the first of three ships ordered by PG Tankers from the same builder as part of an ongoing fleet renewal program. The ship was designed by FKAB Marine Design of Sweden and is registered to the Isle of Man.
To meet PG Tankers’ sustainability requirements, a number of new technologies have been implemented into Lettie PG’s design. These include a methanol-ready propulsion arrangement, batteries with peak shaving capability, solar-powered charging systems, and a shore power connection.
The tanker also features FKAB's patented hull form and benefits from extensive CFD optimisation to improve wave resistance and hull flow. A twisted leading edge rudder is also fitted.
The contract between PG Tankers and the builder also includes an option for one additional ship from the same series.
