Turkey’s RMK Marine has launched T. Tarabya, the second of two 12,000DWT chemical tankers under construction for local operator Ditaş.
The vessel follows sistership T. Florya, which was floated out at RMK Marine’s Tuzla facilities in April of this year.
Delta Marine designed the 125-metre tankers, which have a beam of 21 metres. The pair are being built with methanol-ready systems, allowing their propulsion arrangements to be converted for use with the alternative fuel.
Ditaş said T. Florya was designed for methanol use and that her main engine may be converted to a dual-fuel configuration capable of burning methanol.
Ditaş General Manager Çağatay Ölken said the vessel’s methanol-ready infrastructure will strengthen the operator’s ability to adopt alternative fuels. The company also described the design as focused on operational efficiency, cargo flexibility, safety and performance in chemical transport.
T. Florya is classed by Türk Loydu under a double-class arrangement. When it was launched in April, delivery was planned for the third quarter of 2026 following sea trials.
