Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) took delivery of the 174,000-cubic-metre LNG carrier Puteri Kelantan from Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China on Thursday, September 24.
The vessel was built for Petronas LNG (PLL) and is owned by a K Line-led joint venture.
Puteri Kelantan is the third to be delivered under a four-ship programme contracted in April 2022. Puteri Johor was handed over on May 29, followed by Puteri Kedah on June 30. The remaining sister vessel, Puteri Negeri Sembilan, is scheduled for delivery in November of this year.
All four ships belong to a series of LNG carriers built by Hudong-Zhonghua for various global customers.
K Line said in its delivery announcement that Puteri Kelantan and Puteri Negeri Sembilan will support PLL’s shipping operations.
The new carrier measures approximately 299 metres long with a 46.4-metre beam, a 26.25-metre depth, and an 11.5-metre draught. It has membrane-type cargo tanks and a service speed of 19.5 knots.
Its propulsion plant includes an X-DF dual-fuel, low-speed diesel main engine.
An intelligent control by exhaust recycling system is installed on the engine to reduce methane slip when operating on gas and lower greenhouse-gas emissions.
Puteri Kelantan and Puteri Negeri Sembilan were named at Hudong-Zhonghua on September 2.
