Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) formally named a new LNG carrier during a ceremony in South Korea on Wednesday, September 9.
Toho Emerald is owned by T.K. LNG Shipping, a joint venture formed by K Line and Toho Gas' wholly owned subsidiary Toho LNG Shipping. The ship was built by Samsung Heavy Industries and is scheduled for delivery in October 2026.
K Line said the vessel is equipped with an ME-GA dual-fuel engine designed to operate primarily on LNG, allowing her to achieve highly efficient operation and contribute to the reduction of environmental impact.
Toho Emerald has an LOA of approximately 290 metres, a beam of 45.8 metres, a total cargo capacity of 174,000 cubic metres, and a speed of 19.5 knots.
The ship sails under the flag of Singapore. She is one of 10 new LNG carriers scheduled for completion for K Line before the end of Japanese fiscal year 2026 [April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, ed].
