Construction begins on LPG carrier for China's Zhuhai Wangtong Shipping

China's Hubei Jiangrun Shipbuilding has begun construction of a new LPG carrier ordered by local company Zhuhai Wangtong Shipping.

The completed ship will have an LOA of 76.8 metres, a beam of 13.6 metres, a design speed of 12 knots, and cargo tanks with a total capacity of 2,500 cubic metres. Facilities will be available for the transport of LPG cargo under full pressure at room temperature.

The cargo tanks will be made of a special steel and will be equipped with intelligent liquid cargo monitoring systems. These feature will enable the vessel to load and transport propylene, mixed C4 cargo, propane, butane, pentyl, and other petrochemical products.

Zhuhai Wangtong Shipping will operate the vessel on LPG transport routes within the Greater Bay Area between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Construction of the new LPG carrier is being undertaken in compliance with China Classification Society rules including those that cover unlimited navigation areas.
