Capital Clean Energy Carriers secures long-term ship charters with TotalEnergies
Greece's Capital Clean Energy Carriers (CCEC) has secured long-term charter contracts for two 174,000-cubic-metre LNG carriers with French energy company TotalEnergies.
The two ships, which will be named Athlos and Archon, are under construction at HD Hyundai Samho in South Korea and are scheduled to be delivered in 2027. The charters will take effect when the vessels are delivered.
Athlos and Archon will be chartered by TotalEnergies for five and seven years, respectively. Options are also available to extend each ship's charter by five years.
CCEC said it also has the option to replace the two newbuildings with other LNG carriers in its fleet.
CCEC currently owns 12 LNG carriers, with another six new vessels about to join the fleet and three container vessels under long-term charter.
The deal with TotalEnergies will extend CCEC’s backlog to 7.3 years of lease term and US$3.1 billion in contract revenue (excluding options), which would bring the company’s backlog to US$4.5 billion if options are exercised.
