Dutch inland tanker operator AMS Barging has placed its new bunkering tanker Felicitas into spot market service after the vessel's first commercial voyage.
The addition brings the company's fleet to 17 vessels. Felicitas was christened at Noordereiland in Rotterdam on Friday, October 16.
The 135-metre tanker was designed by RensenDriessen Shipbuilding, with construction undertaken at a partner shipyard in China and final outfitting by Den Breejen Shipyard in the Netherlands.
Felicitas has a cargo capacity of approximately 9,000 cubic metres across 12 zinc-coated tanks, a dual piping system, a cargo heating system, and a pumping capacity of 1,800 cubic metres per hour.
The vessel is currently employed in bunkering dirty and clean petroleum products. Structural and system provisions allow for later modification to methanol bunkering.
The ship’s engines meet EU Stage V emissions standards. AMS Barging said comparable arrangements already operating in its fleet have reduced fuel consumption and emissions by around 25 per cent compared with conventionally driven vessels.
Felicitas follows sister vessel Fortuna, which was christened in Rotterdam in June. Fortuna is owned by BP and managed and operated by AMS Barging.
