Chinese shipbuilder COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry delivered a new LR2 product tanker to Greek shipping company TMS Tankers on Friday, June 27.

Dune is the second in a series of five 114,000DWT ordered by TMS Tankers from the same builder. Lamu, the lead ship in the series, was handed over last May.

The newbuild has an LOA of 248.8 metres, a beam of 44 metres, a depth of 21.5 metres, a design draught of 13.5 metres, and a speed of 14.3 knots.

Notable features include an optimised hull form, propeller front ducts, and vortex-eliminating fins that would enable the ship to meet EEDI phase III standards in addition to achieving improved fuel economy. Optimisation has meanwhile ensured that ship has a greater deadweight and increased cargo hold capacity while retaining its overall dimensions.

Dune was designed in compliance with Bureau Veritas class requirements including the common structural rules for bulk carriers and oil tankers.
